Day 35
Day 35: November 2, 2021 (Robertsdale, AL to Ft. Walton Beach, FL)
Last night was the worst night of the trip. The hotel was a dump. I stayed in the RV, but it was not restful. People were coming and going all hours of the night. Many smoked outside and talked all night. I may have gotten two hours of sleep. Not ideal rest to start day 35 of biking.
At breakfast at the Waffle House, which is also where we had our big meal for Day 34, we decided to alter the bike route. Inside of paralleling I10, we decided to follow the gulf coast. We mapped out the ride for today and tomorrow and selected new hotels that are right on the gulf.
That was a good call on our part. The ride was beautiful. I haven’t spent any time on the gulf. It is very nice. Orange Beach Alabama was spectacular. I want to bring my family back and spent some time there.
As I was riding along the gulf, the Blue Angels were training for an air show this weekend. The pilots are a different breed. They took the planes straight up and then straight down. It was something to see and something that I would never want to do.
Our hotel for Day 35 is in Fort Walton Beach right on the gulf. I hope I get a good night of sleep. After last night, I need one.
